Utah Summer League Debut's; Markelle Fultz, and Jayson Tatum. Potential stars after ONE summer league game?!
3rd July, 2017 7pm Eastern Time, the first summer league game to feature 2 of this years top-3 draft picks, Fultz and Tatum. These two widely agreed by many, they did not disappoint. Fultz even got Kevin Durant to take notice as he said via Twitter; "Fultz got some sh*t with him. The hesi pull-up jimbo was smooth." Of course a lot of us don't know what that is but we can assume by the Tweet Durant likes what he saw.
Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics even though was not so sought out to be seen as Fultz. He impressed and was able to put up a solid line of; 33 minutes played 21p-7r-3a-5s while shooting a great percentage of 47.1%, and not to mention hitting the game-winner. Tatum's style of play mirrored KD in a way, but that remains to be seen how that will develop.
Markelle Fultz of the Philadelphia 76ers also put up a good stat-line with the limited minutes, he was given by the 76ers coach, just to play it safe to avoid injury. He put up 17p-2r-1a-1s-3b while shooting a mediocre 37.5% in 22 minutes of action, and missing the potential game-winner. Although, his stat's weren't that amazing, his game reminded me of CP3 or Harden with the way he was weaving through traffic and choosing his shots, but again this is a work in progress and remains to be seen how far these potential superstars will go.
This Summer league game showed us that these rookies are going to fit right in and make a difference immediately, and we shouldn't expect them to play too many games before they start putting up big numbers, and proving they deserved their draft position.
